ATIC : Learning through Information and Communication Technologies

Context

Since Mali suffers from a shortage of qualified teachers, the State decided to go in for a mass recruitment of contract teachers, most often without academic qualifications and without initial teachers’ training. Added to this is the weakness of the initial and in-service teacher training system.

Project objective

Improve, through in-service teacher training, the quality of education at the junior high school level, within the framework of basic education, in the Sikasso region. The aim is to train the contract teachers recruited in emergency situations without initial training by pedagogical supervisors, on the one hand, and to build the capacities of other teachers to improve their teaching practices, on the other.

Parterns

Agence Française de Développement (AFD – French development agency), Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF – Francophonie
university agency), Direction Nationale de l’Enseignement Normal (DNEN – National department of normal education), Orange Mali, Orange Labs Paris.
